The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone, has expelled Ann Agom-Eze from the party for allegedly rebellious and undisciplined conduct.

This was contained in a statement issued in Abakaliki on Sunday by the party’s chairman in the state, Stanley Okoro-Emegha.

Ms. Agom-Eze was Governor David Umahi’s main rival for the APC Ebonyi Southern District ticket ahead of the 2023 election.

On July 22, a Federal High Court in Abakaliki ordered a rerun of senatorial primaries after one of the contenders, the governor’s younger brother, Austine Umahi, dropped out of the race.

Following the court ruling, APC held new primary elections on July 31, with Governor Umahi emerging as the winner.

Mr. Okoro-Emegha testified on Sunday that Ms. Agom-Eze rebelliously endangered his membership by violating the APC Constitution, which prohibits any act of dishonesty capable of disparaging the party or its members.

It added that Ms. Agom-Eze was initially expelled by APC district executives in her Umudomi district in the Onicha local government area of ​​the state.

“The chairman of APC, Ebonyi South Zone, Mr. Ernest Nwazi, through a motion, expelled Agom-Eze from the party, citing rebellious and unruly behaviour.

“The president also stated that she fundamentally violated some sections of the party’s constitution,” he said.

“Agom-Eze has recklessly belittled himself by swallowing his words in an effort to satisfy his payers.

“Given that his expulsion began in his neighborhood, I cannot interfere with the decision because politics is a grassroots commitment.

“We are well educated in her shenanigans as she is being financed by the opposition party,” he added.

Mr. Okoro-Emegha also stated that APC would convincingly field all of its candidates, including Governor Umahi, in the 2023 general election.
